Achnashelloch (field of the irises) is a family-owned farm run by the Campbells since 1943. The farm is set in the lovely countryside of central Argyll in the West of Scotland and occupies an elevated position, looking towards Dunadd Hill, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Dalriada and beyond that the Moine Mhor or "Great Moss" of Crinan, where the River Add winds its way to the sea.
Our self-catering cottage, The Byre, has been formed by conversion from the old Byre building adjacent to the farmhouse. The cows have moved out!
The cottage has been renovated in Country Cottage style with homely touches and feature work by Scottish Landscape artists, including local "colourist" John Lowrie Morrison. The cottage has electric Central Heating and the accommodation consists of:
Living-dining area with comfortable seating, satellite television and DVD player (plus a selection of DVDs), dining table and four dining chairs.
The living area is open plan to the kitchen which is fully equipped with ample storage, electric cooker with oven, refrigerator with small freezer compartment, washer/dryer, microwave oven, kettle & toaster plus all crockery, pots and pans, cutlery and all kitchen utensils.
There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, each with a chest of drawers and ample wardrobe space.
The bathroom has a wash hand basin, toilet and bath, with an over-bath electric shower.
Picnic chairs and table are provided at the front of the cottage. There is a large garden to the front of the farmhouse and guests are very welcome there.
